Narsaq
Narsaq is the Greenlandic word for “the plain”, referring to the beautiful plain on which the town is built. Both the Norse and the Greenlanders chose to settle on this fertile land, surrounded by waters filled with salmon, trout, seals and small whales. There are even reindeer today on nearby islands and peninsulas.
Narsaq district has a total population of over 2,100, with roughly 1,700 living in the town itself, and the remainder in the settlements of Qassiarsuk and Igaliku and on the many surrounding sheep farms.
